Delivery Health (often shortened to "Deli-Heru") is a prevalent sector of the Japanese adult entertainment industry. Operating essentially as a dispatch service, it involves customers arranging for an attendant to visit a specified location, such as a private apartment or a hotel room.
Under Japan's strict Adult Entertainment Business Law (Fuzoku Eigyoho), Delivery Health services operate strictly within a framework that prohibits intercourse. Because they do not require a dedicated physical storefront, they are highly accessible and form one of the largest segments of the modern fuzoku industry.
Soaplands are specialized bathhouses and represent one of the most well-known and traditional forms of adult entertainment in Japan. Historically originating as "Toruko-buro" (Turkish baths), they were rebranded to "Soapland" in the 1980s.
Unlike Delivery Health, Soaplands operate out of heavily regulated, physical commercial premises equipped with private bathing rooms where customers are bathed and massaged by attendants. Because of the strict zoning laws and regulations governing their operation, Soaplands are usually concentrated in specific, designated districts across Japan, such as Yoshiwara in Tokyo.
